Alan McLuckie, MSW, PhD, RCSW
Born and raised in Calgary, Melissa earned her Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from The University of Calgary and worked as a Special Education Teacher for over a decade. After completing her Masters in Education (M.Ed.) in Counselling Psychology at OISE, University of Toronto, Melissa practiced as a mental health therapist at a leading child & adolescent psychiatry program in Toronto, specializing in ADHD, neurodevelopmental disorders & learning disabilities. In this role Melissa designed and implemented a teacher consultation and training program regarding children’s learning and mental health, which supported thousands of educators. Subsequently, Melissa joined the management team at one of Canada’s leading mental health centres for children and youth with learning disabilities, where she provided and supervised outreach, educational consultations, training and interventions throughout the Greater Toronto Area. In addition to being a founding member of Upside Therapy, Melissa is currently a Registered Psychologist who works as a school psychologist in Alberta. For 25 years Melissa has supported children, youth, families, and educators affected by mental health and learning difficulties. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, mood/depression, parenting support, ADHD, neurodiversity and learning differences/ disabilities.
